MAS News:
Price Increase:
Into our 5th year, MAS must conform to our “fiscal” responsibilities and, for the first time since opening, raise our prices from $25.00 per class (six classes @ $150.00) to $27.50 per hour (six classes @ $165.00). We will still offer a discount of $25.00 if you sign up for 12 classes. This increase will begin on Saturday, January 2, 2010.
MAS and Marin Community Food Bank:
We have a Food Bank Barrel ready to take your food donations. Please make sure the expiration date is current as “out of date” will be discarded. Thank you.
MAS Students “Spreading their Wings”
Currently enrolled students that are exhibiting, selling and marketing their “wares” dramatically increases each year. This is our “yardstick” of success. This is our driving force to continue teaching. In alphabetical order: Daniel Altman (current exhibit @ the Oakland Lakeview Library thru December 24th), Caroline Berry, Pat Bohm, Laura Culver (ongoing exhibitions’/shows), Bernd Enders (one man show @ Studio 24 in Petaluma 707-766-9545 thru January 15th) Joe Grenn, Jeremy Littman, Barbara Moffat, Tracy O’Neill, Sara Radke (ongoing exhibition), Linda Rosso, Manon Sanders (ongoing exhibition/shows), Kit Sheppard (ongoing exhibitions) and Elaine West. Many more will be entering Marin Open Studios in May. If we omitted anyone….please let us know.
Student Show Pickup:
Feedback from the quality of student work at the Civic Center has been truly astounding and rewarding for all. We will definitely make this an annual event. Pickup for your artwork will be the middle of January (do not have an exact time as yet). MAS needs each of you to pick up your own work. Many of you have your boxes here waiting for you. If you cannot pick up your work at the allotted time, please make every effort to have someone do it for you. More information will follow.
Looking towards 2010:
New class to be added the third week of February.
Jane Heaphy will be teaching a sculpture class, Wednesday evenings from 6-9, using a live model with ongoing poses estimated to take 8 weeks. This class will be limited and will require a full commitment to enroll. Once the pose begins, no other students may enroll. The cost of $165 and a $60 model fee must accompany the enrollment in class for the first six weeks. Jane will determine the time needed to complete the class and monies to continue will be collected at that time. Students must arrive no later than 15 minutes before each class and allow time to stay past the 9p.m. class for cleanup. This is a first come bases and the students understanding of “form” will be considered. MAS is investigating materials and clay for students, at our usual low cost, to purchase. We are also in the process of building model stands for this, and future clay classes.
Jove Wang Workshop:
Jove is coming…..a five day workshop beginning Friday April 16 through Tuesday, April 20th…..Jove will teach the figure in the Landscape for three days and bring you inside for 2. As always, we will paint from the model. MAS is indeed proud that Master Jove Wang is again teaching here in Northern California. We feel it important to expose our students to “the best”. The cost of this workshop will be the same…$950.00 and is limited to first come. Please let us know of your intent as soon as possible with a $200.00 deposit. More information to follow.
Corsica in September:
We are planning a wonderful trip to Corsica and are firming up lodging, airlines and prices as we speak. As always, we are keeping the price lowwww. We are limiting the students to 12 this trip….and Jane and I are counting the days. At this time we are shooting for the middle of September. Again, first come, first serve.
Jane and I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Holiday and a wonderful New Year to come and thank you for a wonderful year past.
